Most people would say eternal life is everlasting life, meaning it goes on forever, even life after death. We might feel a sense of relief, knowing we are going to heaven. Something to be enjoyed later. Right?
Well, what if I told you eternal life can also be enjoyed NOW, in our present life. This kind of life is a gift of God’s grace.
You may be surprised to know that eternal life is not merely about quantity (how long) but, most importantly, the quality of life (how good). The experience we should live.
What does the bible say about eternal life?
If you think there are many rules and commandments you have to follow to live a holy life, that is not true. Eternal life is simple.
The parable of the Good Samaritan asks the same question, what must I do to inherit eternal life? Jesus answers this question by breaking it into two commandments:
- Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind.
- Love your neighbor as yourself.
Does this look like a long list of must do’s? Not to me!
When we focus on God, the blessings spill into every area of our lives, including our relationships with others.

Is eternal life available right now?
Absolutely. God meant for us to be in a relationship with him. If we think back to the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, they hid from God. This can only mean that sin separates us from our Creator. God bridged this gap by sending his Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sins.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus, our Lord.
Romans 6:23
Eternal life is found exclusively in Jesus. It is received by faith as the only path to experiencing eternal life.
The point is that when we focus on commandment #1 of loving God with heart, soul, mind, and strength, we will find the passcode into heaven, and will be able to love our neighbor. Eternal life here and now is knowing God through Jesus Christ.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16
I don’t know about you, friend, but I desire eternal life. For many years I lived a life of death and defeat. I now understand what “to perish” means; our spirit is slowly deteriorating as a result of sin. The truth is that we are spiritual beings formed in the image of a loving God—we grow cold and distant because sin separates us from him.
Do you feel hurt, empty, unfulfilled, unseen, or lonely?
This is your opportunity to inherit eternal life. Jesus Christ satisfies the hungry and thirsty soul forever!
[If you] drink regular water [you] will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I, [Jesus] give will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give [you] will become in [you] a spring of water welling up to eternal life.
John 4:13-15
If you would like to form or renew a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ, please pray this simple prayer:
Dear Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I’m tired of doing things my way—I need you. Please wipe away my sins and give me a new heart. I believe you died and rose again for me. I invite you into my life to be my Lord and Savior. Amen.
My friend, if you prayed this prayer, I am so happy for you! Please write “I’m ready” in the comments so we can rejoice together.
♥ Blessings!
