OH, SWEET BABY! You are growing by the day. We jumped the little hurdle of the newborn phase and all the adaptations of bringing home a new baby. Today’s post will go over baby essentials 3-6 months that we love and use daily.

Baby Clothing
It is already a good idea to purchase 3-6 months, maybe some six month outfits to have on hand for when baby is ready.
Onsies
Onesies have been my favorite outfits because they are comfortable for babies, especially during this stage where they are starting to roll over and are much more active. You can easily create a cute outfit with some baby leggings/pants and shoes.
Bibs
Baby Abigail is a drool monster, so if we dont put a bib on her, she is sure to get soaked. We like to use the soft cotton ones until she starts solids, then we can transition to the food-friendly options.
I encourage you to read my Newborn Essentials post for more information on how to get baby clothing on a budget. If you’re like me, you know that babies outgrow their clothes super fast, and it’s not worth splurging on clothes when they might use an outfit once or maybe leave it brand new because it no longer fits.
Toys & Books
You probably noticed that your baby is more alert and enjoys playtime, so now is a good time to purchase a few interactive toys and books for their brain development. The following toys are must-have baby essentials 3-6 months because they are colorful, interactive, and lightweight.
Play Gyms
A play gym is an excellent toy to have for your little one because, at three months, babies start reaching out to grab toys. You can place your baby on their back, and they should start interacting with the hanging toys; hopefully, the colors will encourage rolling over for tummy time.
Oball
This is another favorite toy because it is lightweight and colorful, and we know it is important because most toys are heavy. The Oball is lightweight and squishy enough where the baby can bring it close to their mouth and bite it. In addition, the oball has an easy grasp making it convenient for babies to learn to transfer their toys from one hand to the other.
Rattles
A rattle toy is fun for babies because the rattling noise keeps them entertained. Baby Abigail loves to listen to the noises the rattles make as she continues to grow. Also beware babies can hit their heads with the harder ones.
Teething Rings
It’s so funny how teething rings come in many different shapes and sizes. What Baby Abigail has liked the most is rounder shapes that are easy to grasp. The other suggestion is Sophie the Giraffe; I know it has a higher price point, but it is definitely worth the investment in my books because it is very flexible and has many parts to help soothe itchy gums.
Soft Mirror
Babies love to see their reflection, so that is why buying a mirror is a great option. If your play gym already comes with a mirror and is detachable, then, by all means, use that one for tummy time. I’ve seen books with a built-in mirror for babies. You can prop the mirror on a pillow during tummy time so the baby can see their reflection. The positioning of the mirror can even encourage faster crawling 😉
Board Books
I recommend reading books to your baby because I read somewhere that it is good to introduce books early. Even if they can’t read yet, at least they can see the illustrations and hear your voice. I feel it is well rounded sensory activity to do with your little one. The Usborne touchy-feely kind of book is a great option.
Bathing
Bath time has been so fun with Baby Abigail– she loves to play and splash in the water! We purchased a waterproof baby book that she can play with during her bath; she loves looking at the colorful animals on the pages while relaxing in the water. Unfortunately, she also likes to bite it because it is very soft and squishy. The other toy she has is a rubber ducky! 😉 My only suggestion is that you pick waterproof toys so that water doesn’t get trapped inside, making them susceptible to mold and bacteria.
Sleep
I’m still following the sleep routine that I mentioned in my Newborn Essentials and Must-Haves Post. But for now, these are the things that we are still loving for bedtime.
White Noise
We are using our Amazon Echo for sleep sounds, and we love a variety of natural noises like rain sounds. It is very soothing even for us adults. ☺️
Sleep Sacks
I noticed with Abigail that she likes to kick the blankets; the bad part is that she may catch a cold at night. So, we love using a sleep sack which is basically a blanket with a zipper, making it safe for baby to sleep with and keeping her warm during the night. The sleep sack we used was a gift from our insurance company, but I’ve linked something similar for your consideration.
Carrier
We are still loving our Baby K’tan Carrier because it allows me to have free hands do things around the house even if baby Abigail is awake. I can tell she loves to watch everything closely, and then she falls asleep– it’s the sweetest thing ever! ❤️ May our bond grow stronger.
PRO TIP: Purchase your pre-pregnancy size. If you feel it is too tight, dont panic (like I did). I contacted the manufacturer and they told me I had to stretch out the fabric for optimal fit, and everything was fine afterward.
Swing/Bouncer
Another favorite item that we use every day is our Graco Swing. It’s been a lifesaver when we need a break to sit down and eat our meals. Baby Abigail likes the swing motion and entertains herself for a bit.
I would like to finish with this thought, even if you couldn’t purchase anything besides food, but if your baby feels loved, they already have everything! The fact that you are sacrificing for your little one day in and day out automatically makes you a rockstar and the whole wide world to your baby! 💕
That concludes our Baby Essentials 3-6 months and must haves! I hope you found something valuable in this post. If there is a baby essential you would like to add to this list please feel free to comment below.
